Every book has a happy ending...

If only life were the same in some cases. I mean i'm not trying to sound like a downer on life, but like some people don't end up finding out who killed their sister or lots of others. Here was Mr. Carvilles final attempt at killing Jim and Jennifer. He says hes a teacher at some college and gets a hold of Jim. He goes to Jims house to talk about what its like to try to track down a killer and his exprience with Jennifer. The thing that I find most interesting, and that basically saves Jim and Jennifers lives is Jennifer herself. He bravery and courage rises up to the top at the end to take down Roger. I think its really cool because she knows that its Roger right when she walks into Jims house. In the book Jennifer describes how the outside of her house reminds her of when the painter (Roger) came and kidnapped her at first. She gets this funny feeling and when she walks inside slowly she hears a voice of one that she wished to forgotten, Rogers of course. She rises to the occasision and gives a good fight. See I am not like Jennifer. I would be sooo scared to even step inside with that feeling. She is really a strong character and thats what I like about her. The thing that I really like about this book is that the weak character who suffers through so much ends up being the hero.

Creepy much

In this blog I am going to discuss all the creepy/ stalkerish things Roger Carville has done in this book. I do realize that he is a serial killer and that this is what they do, but its really crazy all the messed up stuff he has done. For starters he has killed all his people the same and around the time same time of the day, but different months of course. Another creepy thing is that he changes his identity about 4 times throughout the book. He does this so that Jim and the police do not locate him. Inyet though even with his disguses and different names, he does something that makes it obvious enough that it is him. He also follows Jennifer to Canes and takes pictures of her throughout the day and sends them to her at the end of it. They are all pictures of her being completely casual, its really creepy. He also send the pictures to Jim. He also rapes Jennifer when he kidnapps her. He uses her body as an ash tray and brands his name in her. He also goes to the library and searches the obituary for dead peoples names that he can use as his disguise name. He also send pictures to Jim of Jennifer while she is being held hostage. If I were to ever encounter someone like Roger I would be scared. Except the scariest part is I wouldn't know if it were Roger or not. Scary people these days...

Interesting...

Todays blog is going to be a letter  that im writing to Mr. Roger Carivelle. Mr. Carivelle is the serial killer.
Dear Mr. Carivelle,
Where to start, first of all, get it together. I mean I know you were sexually abused as a child and had a really messed up father and went through things most kids could never imagine, but why I use that to kill people? You say in the book that it brings you please? I will never understand how killing a local civilian who did nothing to you could bring you please by killing them. I know you were the one who killed the 4 women plus Jim's sister. It really makes me mad that you get away with this. Its making me even more angry considering your are holding Jims girlfreind hostage when she did nothing to you. Its like when I watch a movie and there is the mean character who just bugs the crap out of me and I start yelling at the tv, you're that charcter. Although i must admitt like calling Jim and being like "hey its Rog, how are ya" acting like nothing is going on i thought that was kind of clever. But I still dislike you and cannot wait until your caught and killed.

Quote

For this blog i'm going to discuss a quote that really stood out to me. Balfour said "Are you telling me hes going to get away with this?" Dante responded "No, because the more lies you tell, or the more complicated you make it, the harder it is to keep track and eventually you mess up." Why this stands out to me is because it really explains life.  Someone very close to me has lied to me for most of my life and he was caught in it because he got so caught up that he completely messed up. The fact that my grandpa wrote a quote like this is kinda convient because its kindof been my familys life story for awhile. My mom often says stuff like this about lying and stuff. And i agree completely with this statement. No matter who it is, a bad guy, a good guy, a best friend a enemey or even family. Anytime someone lies, they get caught. Its werid. I have lied before and i have gotten caught. I try to dig my way into a story and get caught. I guess thats just the way this world works. I just think this quote pretty much explains what happens when you lie pretty well. Its like what my mom says, "When you play with fire don't cry when you burn." When you constantly lie to the point of it becoming natural someones bound to catch on.

Protagonist

In the book I'm reading, "The Fourth Day", Jim Balfour is developing to be the protagonist. He recently just learned about 3 murders that are similar to his friends death. Jim is the guy who wants to crack this case. No one knows who these murderers are but Jim is determined to figure it out. As of now he has very little knowledge and explanation or motives for this killer. His work is in the early stages right now. Jim is the kind of man who is very down to earth. But he knows that when 3 people are killed around the time of different golf events thats not coincidental. I am really excited to keep reading and find out if he is able to solve the mystery. My prediction is that the guy on the tour had an affair with eaach of these people and then just killed them. There are parts in the book where in talks in someother persons presepctive. I am almost postive it is the killer because he discuss how murder is easy, and about different golf tournaments. Also I recently read a part where he discusses that he was sexually abused as a child by his father. Motive? I think so. Jim just has to discover this information to become the hero.

Murder Mysterys

People often ask me, what is your favorite type of mystery? My response: "A murder mystery, easily." Why? Well theres nothing like sitting on the couch on a rainy day and finding a good murder mystery book that keeps you so hooked that you can't put it down until you solve the mystery. I think I just found the perfect book. I am 40 pages into and someone has already been murdered. Whats to come next? All I can say is that I would never guess for my Grandpa to be such a good writer. In this blog I'm going to make some connections to my life/family life. So the main characters name is Jim? That is my grandpas name. The whole idea of the book being revolved around golf? My grandpas favorite sport, next to baseball of course. In the book he goes to some resteraunt named like Quinlans Bar or something. Thats his dogs name. Also in the book him and his girlfriend Jennifer have been dating a long time but aren't married. My grandpa has been dating Kathy since I was born but they are not married. Also Jennifer often talks about how Jim and Napolean, Jim's dog, are so close that he would basically do anything for it. That is extremely true about my grandpa and his dog. Jim lives in Detriot in the book, when my grandpa wrote this that was where he lived. He also goes out to visit his dad in Florida, which he says is his favorite place. That is where my grandpa currently lives. Its almost funny when I read some of this because I can just see my grandpa writing this out. Its amazing how his writing is alot similiar to how he is as a person. And how the main character is so similar to him.

The Fourth Day

My outside reading book that I chose for this quarter is The Fourth Day, by Jim Quigley. I chose this book because my grandpa wrote it and I have been wanting to read it since then. He wrote it about 6 years ago but at the time I was to young to read it. This is book is about golf, murders and romance (everything I should not have read 6 years ago hence why I am reading it now). I am really looking forward to this book because my mom has said nothing but good things about it. That could just be cause it was her dad that wrote it.... I hope she has sincere meaning to it otherwise I will be in for a long 287 pages. This will hopefully be a book that I really enjoy.

Overcoming Odds

The article I read is from the denver post online. It talked about a girl whose mom became pregnant in high school and had to drop out. This girl was raised in poverty because the mom had nothing. But in the end the girl ended up getting something more then materials. She had a mother who loved her deeply and told her and made sure she did not become pregnant. This girl overcame the odds of joining her mother and other teen girls in her town by not becoming pregnant in high school. I think in high school more then ever you have to overcome so many odds. For example, parents except ( well I guess not really "expect" but like know) that there kids will drink or get into drugs. When a teenager can go into high school and come out having never done that, they've beat the odds. I think its good that their are programs like DARE to help each individual try to beat the odds.

Love

When I typed in "Love" in the google news search an interesting article appeared. It was an article called, "65 reasons we love the madness of NCAA Basketball Tournament." That is a certinly a werid thing to write an article about someones love towards it. I guess i have a love towards music and hockey, so its not crazily weird. But this article really shows how so many people look forward to this time of year and how memoriable it is to many people. People always say not to love material things, which i dont't, but there are things that I love that don't nessararly love you back. For me, love is the way you feel about something or someone you are passionate about. I mean i'm not saying have like a passionate love towards your brother, thats weird but like that you would do just about anything for the safety and being of him. And that there are things you are so devoted to in life that you can't see yourself without.

Drug War

Basically I don't want to go to Mexico, heres why. They are not nessarly fighting a war with anyone, its something, drugs. The whole deal is that mexicans are going crazy and killing people all over the fact that the drug deals has cut down. And that security around the world is really getting tighter when it comes to drugs. The thing is the though, is that these insane people are making there way into states like Arizona. This really scares me because the fact that people are obsessing of drugs like cocaine is creepy and crazy. In some cases its not that the person is actually doing it, they are the ones selling it. I would not want to ever get caught up in that. The people that are selling are in just as much of a hole as the people addicted.

Colonization!

Psychological effects of colonization still present? Thats what the article I read is called. I didn't know that there were psychological effects of this. Well in the article it talks about how colonization has been one of the worst things ever. I guess it has been bad, like how colonies started slave trade and that unequal stuff. But without colonization half the countries and stuff we have today would not be here. I suppose there is effects that really change how people are today. If there exprience was bad they still probably have post problems. I guess this whole idea could go either way. Personally I don't care about colonization, I'm going to be honest.

Global Issue

The article I read is called "How We Can Afford Global Health." The overall idea of the article was that a bunch of doctors and important people talked about where are country is headed health wise. They focused on alot of different diseases and how we need to find a cure and figure them out. Also it talks about how the Global Health program is trying to create vaccines. This is a major global issue. Every year millions of people die to HIV/Aids and alot of other diseases. It is much needed that everyone could have a vaccine or cure for them. Lots of people's lifes are dependent on these cures. There are so many poor countries that need help in this category too. If everyone can donate a little bit of money once a few months to help out scientists to find a cure it would help the world out as a whole.

Holidays

A new Holiday for California? People in California are trying to sign for a new holiday. The holiday would be known as, "Harvey Milk Day." The reason for this bill trying to be passed is to create a holiday for someone that people think they deserve it. Like MLK day or something of that sort. The reason why Californians think this should become a holiday is because this man was the first official to admit to being gay in 1977. People think that this is more then just rights. Its about creating a day for people who think this man is truely historic. This is hard situation. The gay rights laws right now are very shaky. People are trying to have these laws passed. Many people are against them because they believe that it is wrong. Personally, I don't really care. In a sense this holiday could be nice for some people.

Bollywood

Bollywood profits hit all time low? The article I read talks about how this spring is going to be very tough for the Bollywood film production. The box office is registering at an all time low. The revenue has been dropping since December of 2008. I guess I can see how this is happening. I mean the economy is making it hard to do extra things like spend 8 dollars on a movie ticket then 8 more for food. I can't imagine that even Hollywood is doing to well. I have only seen one Bollywood film and I actually kind of enjoyed it. It was the one we watched, Bride and Predjiduce. I didn't think I would like it just because its not from our culture and it could be not that great but it ended up being good. Hopefully profits in the movie industry will rise again. Because it is movies that help us get through hard times. We are able to be in a mode of thought that we are in another life and that is what helps people make it through the day.

Culture

One major part of the American Culture is sports. More specifically, Baseball. In the article I read it talks about Alex Rodriguez, otherwise known as the infamous "A-Rod." The article talks about how he cheated this game by taking steriods. I think this is terrible. It makes him look terrible for lying about it and doing it in the first place. It makes the New York Yankees look terrible for taking someone who would give them a bad name for something like this. It also looks terrible on the sport itself. It is people like A-Rod who give baseball a bad name. These players are looked up to by thousands and thousands of people and are setting an example. The example to lie, cheat and do drugs is not one that this culture respects at all. I love baseball. I am a huge fan, but it is people like A-Rod that make me really dislike it.

Once again it wont let me post the address. But i found it at sacbee. com

Climate Change

Many people are worried about the enviornment and what is to come. Scientist and people all are saying different things about the whole idea of Global Warming. The climate change is very worrisome. Some people think that if we don't change some of the things we are using the artic and other places will be in for trouble. Others think that were not actually going through global warming and that it is just a change in the climate. Either way though I think we should change what we are doing and using. I know that science is not even near close enough to helping the Ozone layer and all that stuff but still, if we can do whatever it takes to prevent the problem now we will be in alot better shape for the future. Change is needed in every enviornmental aspect in life right now.

for some reason it wont let me post the web address. I found this article on Time.com

Hope

This article is about how some people believe that president Obama doesn't believe So much for hope and change. He seems more likely to look towards fear for options. It talks about how he used fear into getting us out of the war. Personally, I don't think fear was really used, then again I don't really care to much about politics but this is related to other situations in life. For example I think Hope comes from fear. People have to be hopeful when they are fearful, because if they are not then fear gets the best of them. Like right now in the economy, people have to be hopeful that it will turn around because if they fear the outcomes it will only make matters worse. It is hard though to not fear things and to see the better side, but that is what shows a persons true colors.

Religion

In the article i read it talks about how senior citizens believe religion is a key to a healthy life. It talks about how many senior citizens say how they feel about the lord and that it is needed to have him involved at senior homes. Studies also show that seniors who attend church regularly live longer and healthier lives. I can see this, my great grandma lived to be 84 and she was so religious. She was very happy and healthy. Many people thought she was in her early 70s, late 60s. Even when she was diagnosed with cancer she was very happy and had a smile on her face. For people who believe in Christ they are able to see him as their savior and not be so worried about death because they know they will end up in heaven when they die.

Women in Charge?

Based New York Times study, 82% of the total job losses have been shown in men, which has lead to a rise in the percentage of families being supported by women. Times have changed. The proportion of woman working has changed much but lately it has been men getting laid off more which is causing this to happen. I find this very interesting, you would not thing that this would be happening in a time like this. Most people would think the men are doing even more now that this is happening. Its amazing how much of a role women play now. Hillary Clinton was very close in being one of the final people to run for president. Women have high roles in government. Women own business's. Women can make a much better living now, they are becoming more independent and taking a stand. It will be weird to see how far women will come in even the next 10 years. Right now in life is very critical and there are so many problems that need to be solved, and if women can solve them then they will get even more credit.

Different Cultures

Its weird how this blog for today goes well with what I learned at Church. Well actually it kind of doesnt but it kind of does in a sense. Anywho in Church today the lesson I taught to 2nd and 3rd graders was about treating people fairly and helping those who are different then you. So I guess it kind of goes with this article. In this article I read its about people who harvest rice in Ronkh, Senegal.(sorry I don't know why this is underlining but I can't figure out how to undo it) It talks about how many west african farmers converted acreage to produce rice. They did this because food prices have risen over the last year or so. This is very different then are culture because we have land that is meant to do this. People don't deciede to grow crops on their properties nowadays. They use the land to build houses and excess things like pools and stuff. It would be very hard to live in a place like Africa where they are very poor in some places of it. The poorest place in Africa doesn't even compare to the poorest place in the US.

Struggles

Its hard to overcome stuggles, everyone goes through them in life. Every country has hardships they must fight through. Right now we are struggling with a ressicion and a very bad economy. In this article it talks about a town in Alaska where 1/3 the houses are still not connected to a sewage system. The cost for this is also very expensive which is causing many people to abandon their houses and move to anchorage. This is very difficult for many people. This puts the president in a hard spot because he has to think of ways to solve this problem. This is not helping the economy in Alaska. It is also very hard for people to deal with this problem because sewage systems are very important to have.

Earthquake

This article is a natural disaster article. It is about a deadly earthquake that happened in China. People are affected by this is many ways. One way is it affects scientists is that they are now questioning on whether or not they can be predicted on when they will hit. It also affects people in China. It affects where they live and how there houses are built or if they feel the need to leave the country. It also affects people who might want to move there because they could be scared of things like this to happen again. Any natural disaster is scary and hard to determine when or where it will happen. The new biggest worries of disasters are hurrinces and water storms like that. This is related to this erthquake story because it also affects where people chose to live because they don't want to have to worry about thingsl like this happening.

Tough Season For The Pioneers

The Hill Murray Pioneers were headed in the right direction this year. They were aiming for being the defending Boys Hockey AA State Champions, good luck now. 4 of their top players early this month were kicked off the team by their coach for doing drugs, the comisoner said they would only miss 2 weeks but the coach sent them on their way. The pioneers star freshman, who also lives in Edina, Duke Pieper is suffering from a brain tumor. I don't know Duke that well but I have helped run hockey clinics that his younger sister goes to. It's really sad to hear about his tumor. I remeber when I was in 7th grade he was on Edina Pee Wee A as a first year and halfway into the season he had to stop playing because he had bleeding in his brain, its terrible that it came back. My good friend friend is dating him and she was telling me how he had been complaining about his vision and thats when he went it. Its so terrible. The other boys though who are out, thats just pure stupidity. My mom always says, "when you play with fire you can't cry when you get burned.

The article is called Hill Murray figure to struggle the rest of the season, but dont blame coach Bill Lechner for his decision. I read this on Star Tribune. com

Edina Girls Hockey

So today in the News Paper there was a small article about how the hockey team im on, Edina Girls Varsity, and how we tied Armstrong. So basically i'm going to give my thoughts and response to this article and game. It talks about how we completely outshot Armstrong two to one. We could have/ should have won. We were losing 2-0 at one point in the game, our coach was super mad. I don't know what happened but we just came out really slow and just didnt have are normal hop. 2 weekends ago we won our big tournament and beat Hill Murray and Stillwater, two really good teams. And now were beating teams like cloquet by only 2 goals and tieing Armstrong..? yikes. Though even after being down 2 to 0 we were able to come back Katey Cowan got the first goal asisted by me and kelly thotland, Corrine Buie got the next goal assisted by Sami Reber and Ellie Sitek. We werent able to step it up in OT. Unfortantly the puck doesnt always go the way you want. Hopefully we can pull through and get a big win against Minnetonka on Tuesday.

TWILIGHT

Basically im obsessed. Edward Cullin is my new crush. His mysterious ways are just so amazing. I love the parts in the book where the author describes him looking into Bella's eyes so intensely and just all the little details about him. Like on how good his jacket smells and the color of his eyes. I'm at the part where Bella and Edward have finally kissed. Just the way she describes it is so amazing. Seriously I wish i was Bella. She wins the award for best boyfriend ever. I love how everyone at school knows how there dating and are completely jealous of Bella, I would be too. This post was pretty much just going to be me ranting about how much I wish Edward was real because I am addicted to him/this book.

More twilight!

Since I had absoultely nothing to do today I read more twilight. I got through the part where Jacob or whatever his name tells Bella the theory of how Edward is a vampire. I then got to the party where the group of boys like chase her down in that city and Edward comes and saves her. As of where I left of is where Edward and Bella are sitting at the resturant after he had just saved her and they are asking questions. This is where Bella brings upon the idea of him being a vampire. And for once in the book Edward is finally answering these questions! I love it. They are really falling in love and it is so cute. In a way its kinda creepy on how Edward says how much he wants her blood but can't have it but I mean still I guess its the new way to flirt...? I am in love with the book though and I need to finish soon so I can see the movie!!

Finally twilight

Over this break I finally found time to continue reading twilight. I'm really happy that I was able to because it is really getting good! As of now in the book I just read where Bella was almost hit by a car. Edward was able to, at the speed of light, jump in front of the van and push it away. This is really where you know Edward and Bella truely have a connection. Can I just say that Edward is the total guy I want? The book describes him as this total God. Although I have not seen the movie yet, but the commericals for twilight look outstanding. And the guy who plays Edward is so good looking! I am in love with this book, partially because I know that Edward and Bella end up together so its so fun to read about how their love between each other is so mysterious.
